Apex Update: From Idea to Formula
When we started Naked Fungi, Apex was an idea scribbled down between harvests on the farm. A proper protein built for athletes, with functional mushrooms at its core, made in the UK and honest about what goes in it.
Today that idea is officially in development, and we wanted to bring you along for the ride.
Where we’re at
Over the past week's we’ve worked through the first six stages of product development with our UK manufacturing partner:
- We sat down with the team and laid out exactly what Apex needs to be.
- Every requirement and specification locked in.
- . The green light to start building.
- The raw materials have been sourced for formulation.
- Groundwork done on the best approach to the formula.
- Every ingredient checked against UK requirements. This one matters to us. We’ve already swapped out ingredients during planning that didn’t meet UK food standards, because we’d rather get it right than get it out fast.
What’s happening now
We’re now in formulation development. This is where Apex actually takes shape: getting the blend, the texture and the taste right. Expect a few rounds of samples, some honest feedback from friends and family, and plenty of tweaking until it’s something we’re proud to put our name on.
Why it matters to us
Apex isn’t a white-label tub with a new sticker on it. It’s built from scratch around what we believe athletes actually need. Seeing it move from a brief on paper to a real formula is the moment the vision starts becoming something you’ll be able to hold.
